Have you been wondering what it takes to get those beautiful bikini competitor abs? A lot of people thinks that one needs to do a lot of crunches to get such abs.  Sure, crunches are a wonderful exercise to getting a lean mid-section.  However, there are many other aspects you need to use if you want a nice and tight waist.

First, to get those bikini competitor abs you need have a sheer desire and discipline.  If you have those in place, there’s no reason you can’t build a nice set of six-pack abs.  Let’s get started…

The Truth About Bikini Prep Dieting

The raw truth about bikini competitors and looking stunning is eating a clean diet. A clean diet does not include junk food.  Sodas, cookies, crackers, cake, pastries, fast food, etc. are not on the eating plan, at all!  A diet primarily composed of whole, natural, and even organic foods will give you ripped abs in a very short amount of time.

Ideally, choose natural proteins such as chicken, turkey, fish, eggs, beef, etc. These protein choices will support lean muscle gains, increase your metabolism, and help burn body fat.  It’s important to have balance in your diet by including wholesome carbs such as potatoes, oats, brown rice, as well as essential fats found in avocados, natural peanut butters, nuts and seeds, and healthy oils. If your food can be hunted, picked, gathered, harvested, etc. it is considered acceptable for contest prep.

The Secret of Cardio and Fat Loss

Cardio is a factor to burn calories and get lean so those abs can shine through. Cardio can be helpful, but be mindful.  Too much cardio can burn muscle.  You see, when you do the right amount of cardio for your stats, your layers of body fat drop and your abs will be more apparent.

There’s no need in doing cardio 7 days a week for hours on end.  Simply get on a scheduled cardio program.  Start off with something light to moderate such as 3 times a week for 20 minutes.  Increase the time or days slowly do you don’t overwhelm your body and burn out. A few tricks with cardio and making it effective is slow progressing and changing up the intensity.

Slinging the Iron

Now, another aspect to getting those amazing bikini competitor abs is ab exercises. Since your abs are a small muscle group you don’t intend to build larger in size.  It’s perfectly fine to hot your abs a few times a week.  In fact, most bikini competitors train their abs every other day.

It’s important to get a complete ab workout by doing reverse crunches, bicycle crunches, Swiss ball crunches, vertical leg crunch, etc. By implementing a variety of ab exercises, you target the abs really well, increase circulation to that area, and burn more body fat!
